Welcome to 5/6A with

Miss Collis!

Our Senior School students have had a fantastic finish to Term 1!  A highlight for many was the Lightning Premiership competition where our students competed in Cricket, Basketball and Volleyball. We were so proud of the good sportsmanship displayed by the students involved, and how well they represented our school values on the day. An extra special congratulations to our cricket and girls volleyball teams for securing runners up pennants as well!

In Literacy, we have been learning about narrative writing. Senior students have developed their understanding of the narrative structure and practised writing ‘sizzling starts’.  After working through the writing process of planning, drafting, editing and revising, students have been able to publish some outstanding stories this week - the senior school teachers have been blown away by the  language used and creativity shown by our students!

Throughout the term in Maths we have been working hard to develop our strategies for problem solving. This has included recording our mathematical thinking as we work through a problem and sharing the different ways we have approached a task. In our last few weeks we have been exploring problems involving factors and multiples as well as square, prime and composite numbers. It has been great to see all students having a go and being resilient when faced with a challenge.

We are looking forward to seeing what Term 2 has in store for our Senior School Superstars!
