Introducing our Japanese, Music & Art Captains

Japanese Captains

Hi everyone! My name is Angie and I am your Japanese Captain along with Arnav for 2022!

Here are some of the things we do as a Japanese Captain - we help organise events like the Japanese club with Mariko Sensei. If you are wondering what a Japanese club is, it’s a club that happens every 2~3 weeks on Friday lunchtime and we organise origami and other Japanese cultural games.

Here are some things about myself. My favourite subject is maths and my favourite animal is a parrot. I was born here in Melbourne and so was my older brother while my mum and dad were born in Japan. I enjoy playing the piano and violin in my spare time. I have been playing violin for 2 years and I also like doing origami.

Thank you for reading, from your 2022 Japanese captain,

Angie.

Hi!  My name is Arnav,

I'm your Japanese Captain along with Angie, and would love for you to know about me, and what I do as a Japanese captain.

About myself:  I enjoy playing piano and guitar, I play cricket, soccer, swimming and tennis. I have four people in my family, my mum, dad, sister and I. I try to follow all the school values while showing initiative and being a role model to other students.

What I do as Japanese Captain: As Japanese captain I organise Japanese clubs every 2-3 weeks and I attend meetings with our Japanese teacher Mariko Sensei. We also do origami/chopstick challenge days, and help the younger kids engage in cultural activities while teaching them Japanese.

Music Captains

Hello to whoever is reading this! My name is Lizzie and I am one of the Music Captains for 2022! I hope that everyone of all ages enjoys all the exciting musical activities Mia and I have in mind for this year.

I absolutely love music, it is by far my favourite subject. My fellow music captain is Mia. We get along very well because we have known each other for a while. I play the cello and the piano. I also sing! I do jazz, tap and hip hop classes with Mia and I am also competing in two aerobics teams.

It has always been my dream to be a music captain! I try to set a good example for the younger kids at Syndal. We, Mia and I, promise to do our best and make this year great for everyone!

From your dedicated music captain,

Lizzie

Hello, my name is Mia and I’m very very excited to be your Music Captain for 2022. Along with Lizzie, I’m hoping to bring lots of new musical activities to SSPS.

A few things about me are; I play the flute and I've been playing it for a year now. I love dance and I do four classes on a Saturday having ballet, tap, jazz then hip-hop. It’s quite exhausting! My favourite subject is music (which is probably why I’m music captain).

I also love school. I love this school and I love my role as music captain so I will do my best to make SSPS proud.

By your 2022 music captain,

Mia.

Art Captains

Hi everyone! My name is Amanda and I am your Art Captain along with Thinaya for 2022!

Here are some things about myself. I love to read books in my spare time. My favourite book series are Harry Potter, the Hunger Games and the School for Good and Evil. I have been playing the flute for two years and I also play tennis.

My family includes my mum, my dad, my little sister Serena and me. My favourite subject is maths and my favourite food is rice paper rolls. I enjoy art as it lets my imagination run wild so I am honoured to be given the role of Art Captain.

Thank you for reading,

Amanda

Hi! My name is Thinaya and I am the new Art Captain for 2022.

I am really excited about my role and really would like to show my full passion in art. Here are some things about me. My hobbies are drawing/art, cricket, coding and animation. My accomplishments are cricket trophies, published apps and many more.

I am fully certified as a full stack developer (meaning I know advanced AI development skills). I have a few apps on google play. I am learning python, and know a lot about website designing. I have just started animation and I am really excited about what I could learn. I have made quite a few published animations as well!

As well I really like sports, my strong suit is cricket. Which I have been doing for 3-4 years now. I am in an under 14 girls league and have lots of fun.

Finally drawing for me is a way to be creative and have wild ideas. I have lots and lots of drawing books of my drawings getting better every page. I love to draw realistic or in a really cartoony way.

I really enjoy art and I am willing to share that love with everybody else!
