Athletics Success after 14 years

Congratulations to the Syndal South Primary School Athletics team for winning the Syndal District Schools Sport Association Athletics’ Championships Division 1 last Friday. It was definitely a day to remember for individual and team success. It was wonderful to see the comradery amongst the team supporting each other, cheering each other on and being so excited for other successes as well as their own. Special thanks, to our parents and grandparents who we able to attend and cheer on the team.

Terrific Kids Awards

On Monday we had Anne Wilson from the Kiwanis Club of Waverley present our Terrific Kids Awards. For our new families to the school, Kiwanis is a hands-on community service organisation whose men and women members are volunteers of all ages. The focus of the organisation is on the needs of children. Current activities include programs in schools, Monash Medical Centre Children’s Unit, Heartkids, Royal Children’s Hospital and others. The Waverley Club also has a significant commitment to Kiwanis’ worldwide project, in conjunction with UNICEF - the Elimination of Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus.

At the conclusion of each term, we have the Terrific Kids Awards, which are sponsored by the Kiwanis. One child from each year level is nominated by the teachers to receive the award. We greatly appreciate the ongoing support we receive from this wonderful organisation.

Our Terrific Kids for Term 1 are:

Foundation - Harvey

Year 1 - Ameyaa

Year 2 - Fei Fei

Year 3 - Kathryn

Year 4 - Aashrit

Year 5 - Asher

Year 6 - Pakhi

If you would like to support the invaluable work done by the Kiwanis, they are running a raffle, the details of which are later in this newsletter.

Storytime for Preschoolers

On the 25th of March, we welcomed preschoolers and their parents to our first 'Storytime for Preschoolers'.  It was a great success and we look forward to having our next session early in Term 2.

End of Term Celebration

Tomorrow, all the students are looking forward to the ‘End of Term’ celebration for the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Program. There were 2 options for the students to choose from when allocating their hard-earned tokens during the Term. The extra thirty minutes of recess with some Easter Sports activities but the winning option is Class Movie with popcorn.

School Uniform

With the change of season upon it is an opportune time to remind you that it is important that all students wear the correct school uniform. We have several options available to ensure that all students are comfortable and warm during the upcoming winter months. The holiday break is a good opportunity to check whether uniforms are ready and correct for the term ahead.

Again, just clarifying that the tights worn with the winter pinafore or summer dress must be bottle green or black, leggings must also be black or dark green, the long sleeve polo shirt or skivvy must be yellow, black or dark green. Students need to keep all other coloured clothing for home or to wear for outside school activities and functions. Students with long hair need to have their hair tied up, and if a hair decoration is preferred one in either yellow, dark green or black. Thank you for your anticipated support with this.

Easter Raffle and Fancy Hat Parade

Thank you to all our families who have so kindly donated Easter eggs, chocolates, and Easter giftware for our Easter Raffle. From all the wonderful donations forty Easter hampers were made by a fabulous group of our very talented mums. Thank you so much. The hampers looked amazing!

Over $1,000 has been raised from the Easter raffle which is truly remarkable and will be used to buy books for our Library.

Don’t forget we will be holding our Fancy Hat Parade tomorrow morning at 9.00 am followed by the Easter Raffle draw.

Students are to wear their school uniform with their ‘fancy hat’ ready for the parade.

End of Term

It is hard to believe that we are at the end of Term 1 and what a very busy and productive term we have had. It was wonderful to have an uninterrupted Term, without the need for remote learning. I would like to sincerely thank students, staff, and parents for your wonderful support and valuable contribution throughout the term.

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very safe and enjoyable holiday break with your family and friends and look forward to another exciting Term ahead.

The school will resume in Term 2 on Tuesday 26th April.
