Junior Class - Mrs Creek

This week in class, the students built upon their previous understanding gathered through our shared stories titled ‘Bilby Moon’ and ‘My Two Blankets’. Our story this time is by Janell Cannon called ‘Stellaluna’. The students make predictions about the story from the cover by drawing and writing about what they ‘see, think and wonder’. After sharing our ideas, the next day the teacher gets to tell the story. The students are encouraged to imagine what is happening. Then as a class, we get to turn the pages of the book, to see the illustrations we imagined. We follow this up with illustrating the story sequence and using our drawings to retell the story. Our future work involves looking at words within a focus sentence and creating our own sentences based upon the pattern.

Our prayers have reflected upon what it means to ‘serve others’, as Jesus demonstrated throughout his life. Quite a few students said that they ‘look out’ for people sitting on the buddy bench, so they can see if they need help. I think that is exactly what serving others with joy looks like.

We are so happy to see everyone back at school today.

Middle Class - Miss Williams

This week the Year 2s and 3s have been working on using verbs and proper nouns in our sentences and paragraphs. We have been identifying them in our reading book ‘It’s Hard to be a Verb’ as well as identifying them in our own writing. The Year 3s have been looking at different types of verbs such as action, thinking, saying and relational verbs, while the Year 2s are identifying proper nouns by looking for their capital letters. Also in writing we have been very excited in our class to have been contacted by Miss Webb to write letters to her class as they are doing letter writing at her school. What a great way for us to make connections to other students around Australia and get to know them. In Maths the Year 2s have been working on looking at rounding numbers as well as counting coin collections. The Year 3s have been looking at completing addition and subtraction by partitioning numbers and making jumps. We are very excited to have everyone back at school as of today and can’t wait to be able to have a lot of fun and learning back together again.

Senior Class - Ms Murphy

It’s exciting times in the Senior room, with us all being able to return to onsite learning and I am sure this isn’t a moment too soon! As we are now three weeks into the term we are well and truly on our way with our current learning journey. This term sees us creating our own sustainable Island in Integrated Studies and we are developing an understanding of how everything is connected. The research and effort going into the development of these Islands is super impressive so far. Our Island Home project also complements this term’s Religion as we seek to understand how to care for the Earth and understand our connections and responsibilities towards our planet.

I look forward to catching up with all of you and remain entirely thankful for the support and effort you have made to keep your child moving forward.

Little Joey

This week we continue to acknowledge the significant role of the "Brown Joeys" in the establishment of St Patrick's School, and recognised Tyler, Link, Jonas and Olivia with Little Joey awards.  Our Little Joeys receive a certificate, sticker and a voucher/goods donated by a local business.  We are very grateful for the contributions from our local businesses.
