Term 4 - Farewell to our Year 12s

This week we said our Farewell to the year 12s in a special assembly hosted by the SRC students. I had the privilege of speaking to the year 12s on behalf of the staff. It has been an absolute privilege to work with these student over the past year and as a community we can be really proud of all their achievements. I am confident that these students will go on to do wonderful and remarkable things in their chosen pathway and I look forward proudly to hearing about them.

This week also saw the annual competition between the Y12s and the Staff at PBHS. The first activity was "Golden Child", a game I personally had never heard of and certainly advantaged the year 12s. It was a game of speed, skill, stamina and strength. We were clearly outmatched and the Y12s won by a landslide. The second event was a giant connect 4 Match between myself and Liam, it was a close match but the teachers were victorious. Giant Jenga was the third trial and it was very competitive. In the end the Jenga toppled when I used a little known tactic called the "Principal Kick". Apparently this is an illegal move and the year 12s are claiming victory (the staff are also claiming victory). The final test was cornhole in which the entire competition degenerated to cheating, cajoling, name calling and insulting. It was a fantastic and fun way to send off the Y12s and the whole school enjoyed the spectacle. As is tradition the staff are claiming victory much to the protests of the year 12s.

Whilst it was officially their last day of lessons this week we also wish them luck in their upcoming exams over the next couple of weeks.

New Teacher for Term 4 and 2022

At the start of the term we welcomed Miss He to the school community. Miss He has a contract for Term 4 but will also be joining us as a permanent Maths/Science teacher in 2022. We are all looking forward to working with Miss He over the next term and beyond.

School Times Consultation

As you will be aware from the last newsletter. PHS is changing the timetable for next year to have an early closure day once per week. By adapting the school start/finish times along with lesson times we are able to increase the amount of lesson time our students have (+20 mins) as well as increasing our Pastoral Care time with a dedicated lesson each week devoted to Pastoral Care/Wellbeing and  Career Development. We would like to ask for feedback from the school community on which day would be best suited for the early closure and to ask questions, make recommendations or raise issues that we may not have considered or need to know. Please see survey below for your opportunity to give feedback.
