Visual Arts Major Works

Mrs Jenny Frazier

Creating something that deeply inspires you is a process of inspiration and exasperation. Our Year 12 Visual Arts Students give us an insight into their HSC Bodies of work for 2021. Your artworks are as individual as you are and an inspiration. Love your work Year 12! Ms Frazier.

Claudia Best:

Claudia’s artwork is focused on mental health and its issues. She captures perceived feelings of being watched and the real physical pain caused by this condition. Intricate layering of watercolour and coloured pencil are used to create Claudia’s work.

Rhiannon McDonald:

Rhiannon’s artwork is about the struggles of mental health and the many personal struggles associated with this condition. The expressive style of this work captures her feelings.

Phoebe Jones: “Tea Talks”

Phoebe’s artwork captures the conversations over tea with her Mum around moments of comfort, conflict and humour. One cup represents her Mum; the other herself.  The teapot is the home and centerpiece of her tea set.

Makaala Dodd: “Through the Lens”

Makaala’s work brings together the things in her life that is who she is as a person and photographer. The photographs in her photo album are separated by blue ribbon into four sections: Mob (People), Country (Place), Dhaymaadi (Animals) and Identity (Who I am). She has integrated aspects of her Aboriginal heritage and background, through the use of symbolic dot painting and Aboriginal words.

Elinor Summers: “No funground”

Elinor’s work at first glance is a place of excitement. But at what cost? When examined closely the pain inflicted on the animals used for human amusement is unveiled. The circus has been used as a platform because historically it hides the truth about using animals to entertain humans. Elinor has beautifully captured the detail with bright colours and a dark background.

Amity Hoade:

Amity explores her love of cats. This work captures the playful moments of her pets. She has used watercolour pencil and interwoven this with real objects.
