Yr 11 Engineering Studies. HSC Module 1 -
Civil Structures:
Year 11 Engineering Studies have started their HSC course with a study on bridges, focusing on beams & trusses. By the end of this unit the students should be able to find the force in the members of a truss and find the bending stress in a beam.
To investigate the different types of bridge structures the students and Mr Hawthorne built scale models to assess strength, materials and the types of forces the structures are subject to.
Example of stone arch bridge. Mr Hawthorne, Zac Walters, Ben Jones, Heath Maurer & Ned Maurer admire their engineering skills.
Food Technology
Mrs Healy was giving a demonstration to her Year 8 Food Tech class on Tuesday when our photographer dropped by. At the time, she was explaining how to check the temperature of the chicken which was being browned and looked quite tasty.
Textiles and Design
Today the Year 12 Major Works were on display in the Benilde Centre. It was great to see the staff and students appreciating the hard work that our senior Textiles students have put into their projects this year.
A full report will appear in the next issue of the College newsletter.
