PE
This term in Physical Education, we will be combining learning from home with onsite learning. We are going to be working on a variety of skills including striking, kicking, fielding, throwing and catching in a number of different sports and modified games.
Prep
This term, Prep students will explore the skills required for object control and two-handed striking in a variety of sports. They will learn about the correct hand position and grip, which they will apply through various striking tasks. Students will begin to refine their accuracy as they consolidate knowledge of the skill, reflecting and making adjustments to their technique. Prep students will begin to explore modified games, with a focus on teamwork, cooperation and following the rules.
Year 1 and 2
This term, year 1 and 2 students will also explore the skills required for object control and two-handed striking in a variety of sports. These sports include golf, teeball, hockey and cricket. Whilst at home, students will explore the technique and hand grips required for a controlled striking action. They will test their striking accuracy and power in a number of challenges. Once back at school, students will apply the skills and techniques they have learnt, as well as consolidating their knowledge of skills learnt throughout the year, to perform in a number of modified activities and games in cooperative and competitive environments.
Year 3 and 4
This term, year 3 and 4 students will explore the skills and strategies of net/court/ wall and invasion sports. This will include tennis, hockey and soccer. Whilst at home, students will work towards identifying, describing and performing skills such as the one handed strike, two handed strike and kicking. Once back at school, students will deepen their understanding of the skills by applying their knowledge to perform in a variety of cooperative and competitive modified games.
Year 5 and 6
This term, year 5 and 6 students will also be exploring the skills and strategies of net/court/ wall and invasion sports. This will include badminton, hockey and soccer. Whilst at home, students will work on identifying, describing and performing skills such as the one handed strike, two handed strike and kicking, focusing on developing correct technique. Once back at school, students will deepen their understanding of the skills by applying their knowledge in a variety of cooperative and competitive modified games. Students will also begin to explore court and field space in order to use their skills and technique in strategic ways.
