School App

Our school app is a quick and easy method to keep up to date with what is happening at GSG. It provides links to other school platforms under the one technology application, including quick access to COVID-19 updates and reporting COVID-19 tests results under 'Links'.

COVID

The new role of schools in determining contact tracing, is one at GSG that we are taking seriously.  As outlined in our COVID communication today, the GSG generated COVID testing results form provides another method that we are using to collect data to protect our community.  Given the changing nature, strong partnerships between school and home are now of greater importance.  If a student or staff member returns a confirmed positive test result, parents will be informed by the School, discussing and giving directions to those families who maybe affected.

Lent

Next Wednesday begins the season of Lent.  It is a Christian season of 40 days in the lead up to Easter.  To truly enter a feast like Easter there must be first a fast.  To arrive properly at Easter there must be a time of fasting, ashes and change. This season can lead to personal growth and development if we genuinely give the time to reflect upon the importance of Lent.

Parent Feedback

Parent feedback is welcomed by the school.  At this week’s School Council meeting, members were provided with a summary of the Class of 2021 academic results along with the results of the Year Twelve Parent Survey.  We are always keen to improve our operations and your comments are valuable in realigning our goals, actions and establishing partnerships that enhance student safety and learning.

With this in mind, the School will be sending out surveys to parents of Year Seven and Year Nine students next week to seek your feedback on a range of school issues.   I encourage parents to make time to be a valuable contributor to this initiative.

Mid-Term

Classes are well into set routines for the term.  The wearing of our school uniform, which promotes our public image and enhances a sense of school belonging, continues to improve.  New activities have begun with our Junior School Horizons program, academic support and summer sport.  Next week, we enter the middle week of Term One.  It will be an opportunity to ensure students are making the most of opportunities that are presented to them.
