NAPLAN 2022

Parents of students in Years 3, 5, 7 & 9 have recently received preliminary information regarding this year’s NAPLAN tests.

On Thursday 24 March there will be an online trial for all schools across Australia. This Nationally Coordinated Practice Test will assist students in understanding the format and structures of NAPLAN, and also provide an opportunity for the College to test its technical capabilities. No particular preparations need to be made apart from having a fully charged iPad (Year 5) and laptop (Years 7 & 9). Year 3 students will undertake their test in the Junior School MultiMedia Lab. This practice test is especially valuable, given that this group of students missed out on the NAPLAN experience in 2020 because of Covid restrictions. NAPLAN tests for 2022 will be undertaken from 10 to 13 May, which is Week 2 of Term 2.

Bright Futures Summit

Year 9 Futures students attended the annual Bright Ideas Summit this week – which is a student entrepreneur conference linked to South Australia’s Southstart Impact and Innovation Festival. They heard from Adelaide’s Chief Entrepreneur and leading innovators currently shaping future thinking in the state. This experience is a catalyst for the Year 9 Futures Project which is in full swing – we can’t wait to see their innovations in action!

Stage 1 Biology

The Stage 1 Biology class have been investigating the optimal conditions for cells to survive in water. Students worked in groups to design an experiment in which they used materials for example eggs, grapes and potatoes to investigate changes in their water content in various conditions such as salt and sugar solutions.
