School Captain News 2

Noah:

Hi and welcome back to this week's issue of captain’s news. Seven weeks have passed since I started these and I feel like I’m really getting the hang of this. This week I’ll cover the district lawn bowls at Caulfield and any other important events during the week. First, though I would like to congratulate all of this week’s star award winners in advance, you deserve it! Now to the important stuff. On Wednesday ⅚ students took a trip over to Caulfield park to compete in the district lawn bowls. The competition started with our inter-school sports coordinator, Mr Cleary telling us our teams. ⅚ was split into an A and a B team, B going to compete with the schools while A took a quick bye. After B had finished up it was A’s turn to have a go. Both teams did an amazing job in competing with the other schools even if we may have not come first. Once every school had finished up we were brought into the canteen to find out who were the winners. Unfortunately, it wasn’t us but the B team for St Joseph's ended up coming fourth. In my opinion, the score doesn’t matter, it's more about the fun and it seemed like every student had that competition on Wednesday. I think I’ve covered just about everything this week. I hope you enjoyed this week’s issue and I’ll write again next week so for now, it’s au revoir! (bye in French for those who don’t know)

Gaby:

Greetings! Welcome to your 7th issue of Captain’s news. That’s right, the 7th!! Term 1 has really gone very quickly. This week started on Tuesday as you all know, and on Wednesday most of our 5/6s went lawn bowling at Caulfield Park!! We’ve had a few mixed feelings about having to walk all the way there and back, but overall I think everyone had a great time. There were 7 schools there, and each team got to play against every school. We had an A team, and a B team, which I myself was selected into. Mr Cleary who organised the teams didn’t grade them, and our B team actually came 4th! The A team came 7th, but it isn’t necessarily about the score, rather about the fun, which in fact was off the charts! Our school has been quite skilled in lawn bowls, as last year our A team (which was graded), including myself, made it all the way to the State Championships!! Anyway, St Joseph’s ended up with a great result, so congratulations to everyone who went and a big thank you to Mr Cleary and Ms Smith who came along too and helped organise us. A pat on the back to all the STAR award, PE award and Italiano award winners and I think that’s it! I hope you enjoyed it and until next week, cheerio!
