Year 7 Barbecue

Year 7 Meet the Parents Barbecue Evening

The year 7 barbecue was held on Tuesday 15th March  and was a well-planned event. The music which contained vocalists, pianists and violinists was an enjoyable and impressive part of the evening and the musicians astounded everyone with their talented musical abilities.

The barbecue component really brought the whole night together and built a warm atmosphere with parents chatting and students laughing. An informative and relatable presentation was shown for the last half an hour about the transition from year 6 to year 7.

Parents were invited to view the presentation, to meet their children’s teachers, to accompany their children and to have just as good of a night as anyone else! This evening was full of laughter, chatting, food and fun, and everyone was always kept occupied, whether it was talking, eating, or viewing the presentation. The event, being an hour and a half long, kept everyone engaged and enticed. The year 7 barbecue was an important and enjoyable event for all who attended.

I really enjoyed the family barbecue.  It was a really nice event to start off year 7 with a great opportunity for parents to meet their child's teachers as well as a chance for parents to meet other parents.  Plus, our parents and guardians were able to see the school environment we (as the year 7's) have been learning in for the last term.  It was a good catch up for the students and for them to hang out with their classmates.  After the last 2 years and tough moments we've all been through during lock down, it was a great way to promote the school community among the family.

The night, although very casual, was very enjoyable with entertainment such as vocalists, music playing in the background, teachers mingling with parents, a barbecue and an informative slideshow where parents were able to hear from the school staff including Mr Dedes, Ms Mildenhall and Mr Wilson.

It was very enjoyable to not only the students but for the parents as well I hope we are able to have more events like this in the future.
