Teaching and Learning Focus: Italian

As you may be aware we recently advertised for an Italian teacher whilst Diana is on leave. Unfortunately, we were not able to appoint an Italian teacher at this time. I have been working with the Language team at Catholic Education Sandhurst (CES), and they have been very supportive in setting us up in a program called “Teachers as Co-Learner.” This program has been running very successfully in other Victorian Catholic Schools for a number of years, particularly in the Dioceses of Melbourne and Ballarat, where many schools elect to use this program.

What does this mean for us?

We will be working with a fluent Italian speaker who will support teachers with materials, resources and professional development. Teachers will then present the learning material on a daily basis, learning alongside the students. There are many benefits to this style of delivery, particularly around the daily presentation of language in classrooms.

It is an exciting time for students and teachers as they undertake this program, which will be supported by CES staff and reviewed throughout the year.
