PDHPE

Welcome to PDHPE for Term 2 at Mater Dei. Staff have been very productive preparing online learning across all PDHPE courses. During this time more than ever, we continue to encourage and deliver lessons that develop health holistically.

Without students participating in practical lessons at this time, can I encourage all students and parents to take the time away from devices to engage in 60 minutes of physical activity each day to encourage positive physical health, alleviate mental and emotional anxiety and stress and to improve cognitive function.

Year 7

Year 7 has begun this term looking at celebrating diversity. Students will develop personal skills about living in a multicultural society that promotes inclusion and supports diversity. They will recognise and challenge stereotypes and discrimination. Part of this unit will also include learning about different cultures in relation to health, including health and the connection to country of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

Year 10

Year 10 have recently completed a unit called “Physical Activity and me”. Within this unit students investigated personal, group and community health and fitness needs. They explored barriers and motivational aspects to recreation, sport and health and fitness goals.

In Term 1, students worked in groups to create community health and fitness events that aim to encourage young people to meet the physical activity guidelines as set out by the government. They were required to plan and justify all aspects of the event and evaluate the likely effectiveness of their event in the local Wagga Wagga community.

Below are some examples of students' work.
