“Procrastination makes easy things hard and hard things harder” Mason Cooley

School attendance is extremely important to student growth and development. The increase in absences due to COVID and isolation rules have been unavoidable. However, students have Microsoft Teams and OneNote to ensure they have access to the learning tasks and PBLs. We want our students at school when they are healthy and well to make the most of their learning experiences. Parents are partners with school to ensure that students attend every day. Absence from school without a valid reason is making things harder for students as they lose precious learning time. This is certainly evident in VCE where attendance has a direct link to satisfactory completion of a unit of study. After the past two years, where students, parents and schools were crying out for an end to remote and flexible learning, finding reasons to be away from school is not healthy. We look forward to working with students and parents to support improved attendance.

Attendance at Year 7 camp last week was terrific. Our students made connections and memories that we are confident will last a lifetime. Thank you to Ryan Hubbard for his outstanding organisation of the camp and all the staff who gave up their time to make it happen.

Today we held year level assemblies on our new tiered seating in the gym. We wanted our students to reconnect to the Beaumaris Secondary College culture and expectations as well as acknowledge their positive transition back to school.

Our student leaders participated in a half day leadership conference where they developed goals and action plans for their leadership role at the college. They are outstanding young people who are strong ambassadors for the college.
