Principal's Report

Exciting announcement...

Official Opening

I am delighted to announce we are holding our Official Opening on Friday 29 April, which is the first Friday of Term Two!

The official part of the day will begin at 10am, with further details to be announced.

To celebrate the occasion, we look forward to hosting many of our community to witness students and staff demonstrating cross-age activities in a rotation style throughout the day, following the formalities.  In doing this, we will welcome our community into our new learning spaces and grounds across the site, to celebrate our wonderful new facilities.

We will look forward to seeing past students, past families, past staff and the broader community, along with our current school community to enjoy the festivities.

Our school council has already started planning and can now swing into full-planning mode, to ensure the day is memorable.

Please note, there will be no Open Day or Classrooms this term, due to the Official Opening now being our focus.

We can't wait to celebrate the event with you all!

Reporting Information Sessions for parents continue (re-run)

Last evening we had a great number of parents/carers tune into our online WebEx session.  I'm hoping we have equally as good numbers at today's and tomorrow evening's sessions.

We are currently refining our reporting process for 2022.  This is a consideration I have been looking at for approximately two years.  I'm hoping to better represent all three key stakeholders:

Student achievement

Staff work; and

Parent insight / knowledge

The reports will be more informative and comprehensive than before.  You will still see a combination of pictorial / graphical representation and text, just more reflective of what is undertaken on a daily basis.

The reports will come with an easy-to-follow guide and list of instructions.

More than ever, your student led conferences will be a key in unpacking what it really means for your child/ren and you.

In addition, I am offering three parent information sessions, to assist you in reading and understanding what it will mean (pre-look).  This is an additional offering and not mandatory, but recommended to maximise the reports' offerings.

Information session times are:

Wednesday 16 March - 2:45pm prior to pick up in D1 (note, change of venue)

Thursday 17 March - 5:30pm on-site in D1(note, change of venue)

Hope to see you there.

Short Assembly - Friday

This Friday is a short assembly from 2:45pm, in Kim barne Nitji.  Hope to see many of our wonderful community members in attendance.

A WebEx link will be sent via Sentral email to you all, prior to the event.

COVID-19 cases

We continue to see consistent numbers of positive COVID cases across our school.  You have all been amazing in your communication and respect for on-site learning and remaining safe.  These are still difficult times, and isolation is not easy.

Please continue to look after yourselves and those around you.

Year 4 Camp to Queenscliff

I'm looking forward to heading off to camp, with some very excited Year 4 students from next Monday 21st.

I am extremely fortunate to have visited Wyuna on a number of occasions previously and can't wait to hear what the students wish to feedback next week, once completing the two-night stay.

Thanks to our staff who attend camps also, to provide the experience for the students, and being so giving of their own time.

I acknowledge the First Peoples of the Wathaurong, who are the traditional custodians of the land and waters on which I work and live, and pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
