Year 12 VCAL:

Holocaust Excursion:

On Tuesday the Year 12 students visited the Holocaust Museum to help students link the events of the Holocaust with documents, photos, artefacts and memories from that time. Students had the opportunity to meet a Holocaust survivor where students heard their testimony and had an opportunity to ask questions. This excursion links with the students Literacy Unit where they have been writing and reading for research and understanding.

Our Year 12 VCAL students went into Melbourne CBD to visit the Salvation Army as part of their Personal Development unit on Homelessness.  They had the opportunity to build relationships with the volunteers and workers which will play an important part for their community impact project later on this term.  The students busted some typical myths and stereotypes about people who are homeless and unpacked reasons that cause homelessness.  Students were encouraged to think empathically, ask “why” and what they can do to make a difference and be exceptional global citizens.
