Year 11 & 12

Hi all and welcome to another edition of the JFC iNewsletter. The term is quickly coming to its final weeks and I am sure you are all excited to have some well earned time off! So let's work together to get through the rest of the term!

I would like to share with you some events that have been happening in the virtual world for year 11 and 12 students.

Trivia sessions

Myself and Miss Konstantinakos have decided to host trivia events for the senior students during their connect classes to give them some relief with their workload, as well as try to have some fun with the final weeks of term with their cohort. The year 12 trivia took place during week 6 and the winners were:

  • 1st Place - Euan Carson
  • 2nd Place - Abe Tsitaridis
  • 3rd Place - Anthony Masino

Well done to all who participated! It was so nice to see so many students getting involved and being competitive with all of the rounds. The year 11 trivia will be running on Wednesday the 2nd of September. Good luck to all students participating in that!

Fit2Drive Program

During connect in week 7, the year 11 VCE students participated in the Fit2Drive program relating to road safety education. As a young teenager, most students are at a point in their lives where they are beginning to learn how to drive. This workshop provided students with relevant and critical information regarding road safety and what they should expect when they begin their journey on Victorian roads as an L or P plater. Below are some student experiences from the seminar:

"The program gave us an overview on new laws and legislation's that we need to abide by while in lock down, while also demonstrating and teaching us about how to be safe on the roads. Laura and Mel were very enthusiastic and engaging with the class, and made it inviting to speak and share thoughts throughout the program"

Sebastian Waterman - 11B

"Despite being in remote learning the Fit2Drive program was a fun and interactive webinar that helped us understand the rules and regulations on Victoria's roads. The webinar included an online quiz that we got to participate in which kept it interesting and engaging. We also got to hear from Victoria Police and the CFA about incidents that happened on the roads due to people not paying attention to the Laws"

Stacie Zervos - 11A

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all students who were involved and actively participating in this seminar. I hope some students have learnt something new and some had any misconceptions cleared up regarding road safety.

Year 11/12 Camp

This week, the Premier made an announcement regarding restrictions moving forward, and unfortunately this means the camp for this year will need to be cancelled. We are looking at hopefully securely another camp at some point next year.

Once again, It has been a pleasure supporting the senior students with their learning and progress so far this term. Here is a quote from my favourite series as a parting thought for today that is quite relevant during this time:

"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light".
