Year Six News

This week, the Year Six students held some very special afternoon Meets. On Monday, we welcomed Dr Gillis Horner, another scientist, to our Meet. He told us really interesting information about what scientists are doing in the bushfire areas to help re-grow the forests and to protect them in the future. That scientists are flying helicopters and pouring tonnes of seed over the most affected areas gives us great hope that these places will recover. Scientists are now working with meteorologists so that we will soon see fire forecasts as well as weather forecasts. He also talked about re-planting river red gums to ensure our water systems stay healthy and salt stays in the soil. His main message was for us all to be curious and to wonder about our world.

We can all be backyard scientists in October by being part of the bird count.

More details will follow as to how we can join in and provide really important information about birds in our area.

On Wednesday, our students ran our Meets. We had a games Meet, a drawing Meet, a cooking class Meet and a Talking Footy Meet. Thanks to all the students who ran those sessions, including Cassie, Audrey, Regan, Jake, Max and Ben.
