2020 Term 3  Week 10  Wellbeing Report

R U OK Celebrations Thursday 10th of September

Last week we were thrilled that students and staff got into the spirit of the national day of R U OK? Day.  Students participated during remote learning where they learned that every day is the day to ask, “Are you OK?”.  You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener. For the children of essential workers/vulnerable families, the children from before/after school care surprised the teachers and staff with a care hamper full of goodies and treats.

Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life:

  1. Ask R U OK?
  2. Listen
  3. Encourage action
  4. Check in

Final Week

This term we have had many conversations with our parents and carers to better understand the changes to families due to COVID-19.  Everyone has been challenged with the routines of daily life disrupted.  We feel privileged that parents have been honest with their concerns and we appreciate understanding the difficulties Level 4 restrictions has imposed. We are looking forward to term 4 and working together to help everyone adjust and settle back into learning. Some children will need a little more support in the mornings and we are happy to help transition the children when they are ready to separate from you.  While parents are not able to come into school all parents can call the school welfare team for advice and support.

If you are needing help with school uniform, a food hamper or enquires for other services please call Veronica or myself.  We are also talking to parents on how to help their children cope with anxiety and fears.  They are worried about a number of issues ranging from falling behind in their school work, getting to sleep, worrying about family members, loss of pets and also relationships/friendships.  If you are looking for information and strategies please join up to the happy families school membership at

Also here is another good article from the Child Mind Institute at- Back to school anxiety during COVID

Have a fantastic school holidays and keep up the great work with your families.
