Performing Arts

As the term nears its end students are continuing their lessons with Creative Music, and our ensembles continue to use Meet to catch up and do some music making. The Play Uke! girls have started on their second song and have chosen a third. The Year 7 Concert Band girls are working their way through the Band book in order to be able to play with the senior girls when health recommendations allow. Senior Rock Bands kept each others spirits up during a recent Meet and Choir continues to meet for a fortnightly lunch and sharing of all kinds of things!

We recently celebrated Brigidine Celebration Day, and Performing Arts girls stepped up to contribute to the occasion. Our student Ensemble Leaders and Performing Arts Captain led the way with a virtual ensemble version of the School Song. Kristy Tran, one of our Creative Music piano students, recorded a video of herself performing a well-loved song 'Rewrite the Stars' from 'The Greatest Showman', and a small group from the Year 11 RE Music class tried their hand at a virtual group performance of part of 'Count on Me' by Bruno Mars. This song helps us to remember that we are there for each other during these challenging times. Our thanks go to Nick Disco, who has put a great deal of time into working with the videos and recordings for the School Song and Count on Me.

We appreciate the effort of all the Performing Arts students who took the time and contribute, Each of us learned something from the experience of preparing music in the remote learning environment, and we will go forward slightly changed by that experience. We wish everyone a happy, safe, and restorative term break.
