Parent – Teacher – Student Conferences

We look forward to our Year 7 – 9 Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences which are scheduled for 2.00 pm – 8.00 pm on this Wednesday 16 September. Bookings, on Parent Teacher Online (PTO), close on Tuesday 15 September at 3.00 pm. This will be a wonderful opportunity to discuss your daughter’s learning progress and strategies to maximise that progress for the remainder of the year. If you are unable to get bookings for all teachers, please send them a SEQTA message and the teachers will organise an alternative time to talk with you.

Reporting Student Progress and Achievement

Ongoing results and feedback are available to students and parents via SEQTA Learn and Engage, It is important that all parents are checking the results and feedback provided for students on SEQTA on a regular basis. Some feedback, for Semester 2, should be available for all students in each of the subjects that they study by the end of this term. Please discuss your daughter’s progress, learning goals and the feedback/reflection that she has added. In doing this, your daughter will be able to formulate a clearer idea of “where to next” in her learning. This will also enhance the value of the Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences.

Year 9 2021

Thank you to all of the students and their families who attended our recent Year 9 Program 2021 Parent and Student Information Webinar. It was wonderful to have so many attend as we plan for Year 9 2021. It is so important that parents remain informed and engaged in their child’s learning, as we know that this has a positive impact on growth and achievement.

Unit 3/4 VCE Update

Since the last Marian News, there has been another change with regards to the VCE Trial Examinations. With Year 12s and other Unit 3/4 students not returning to school, for classes, until 12 October we had to review the model that we had planned. We have since developed and considered a number of different models and now the students have been provided with the final program of classes and trial exams that we are planning to implement from the beginning of Term 4.

Some key points are listed below:

  • Teachers will deliver trial/practice exams in over the week (beginning 5 October) in the remote classes.
  • There will be no exam block on the return to school
  • Students will be able to receive feedback on the practice questions completed remotely.
  • Further practice exams/questions will be administered in classes.
  • All students will sit one full practice English Exam, English Language Exam (Year 12), or Unit 3/4 accelerated study for Year 11s, on Wednesday 14 October from 12.30 pm, under full exam conditions. Please note that this will be a late finish on this date, depending on the length of the exam.

There is a 3-day program of revision classes planned for 4, 5 and 6 November to provide an opportunity for additional face-to-face revision.

This program will give students maximum time with their own teacher, exam practice for feedback and one complete exam experience for every student. We understand that this is not what was originally planned; however, we think that this program will provide the best opportunities for everyone.

The General Achievement Test (GAT) is scheduled for Wednesday 7 October and all students studying a scored Unit 3/4 Study are required to complete this important assessment. The students have participated in a planned program of preparation and practice for the GAT.

We are proud of our Unit 3/4 students and the way they have continued to focus on preparing for the GAT and we commend them for the way that they have continued to adapt and make the most of the different challenges they face this year.
