A Focus on Performing Arts

Foundation – Year 2 Students

This term, our wonderful students in Foundation and Years 1/2 have been exploring drama while learning from home. We have begun the term by creating a Sock Puppet Theatre, where the students have created their own puppet, voice and character.

We have been absolutely blown away by the imagination, creativity and humour our students have shown us throughout this project. It’s also been so heart-warming to see siblings and other family members learning and playing together. Some students have chosen to share their work with their peers on Padlet, which has been a great platform to share our ideas and creations, which would normally happen so organically in a classroom. Here are some of the incredible creatures our students created.

We will continue to explore drama, by learning drama games and activities. I will also continue to include some different dance and movement activities, to help keep restless bodies active while the weather keeps us indoors!

Years 3 – 6 Students

I am sure many of us are having wanderlust being unable to travel during Stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne. One of the joys of travelling is discovering different cultures and musical influences. Performing Arts in term three is all about travelling, albeit virtually, to different places and learning about how different cultures and people contribute to the Performing Arts Scene. We have been to Girgarre – a small town just two hours out of Melbourne, WOMADELAIDE in Adelaide, and we are currently basking in the sounds of India.

Through this adventure, our students have shown amazing junk instrument creations, set-up backyard music festivals with their families, and shown some of their amazing coordination in dancing. The best bit is watching families work and perform together – we have so many talented families in our community and I am blown away at your stunning performances. Check out these amazing performances and photos on the Performing Arts Padlets.

In the meantime, here are some pictures of our awesome performers and innovators in Fairfield Primary school.

Virtual Choir

We have been running choir sessions every Wednesday at 2:45pm on Google Classroom. Please join Rebecca and Olivia for a sing and some music trivia on Wednesdays if you are a choir member.
