Year 6 Spotlight

A Spotlight on Year 6

6A Reflections

Below is a screen shot of a ‘check-in’ meeting. We caught up in our dressing gowns and drank hot chocolate. This meeting is used as touch base for any questions and just a general catch up.

I am enjoying all of the class meetings and being able to catch up with our class and all the fun optional activities like the lip sync battle, it was so much fun. My favourite thing is the Friday class meetings because we do something fun like a virtual cooking class and a 6A workout. That is what I love about remote learning. ~ Ahnya V, 6A

I am enjoying all of the tasks that are put up, and love attending the class meetings, and catch up with other students. ~ Ava T, 6A

The tasks that are assigned are fun. It is great having meetings throughout the week so we can catch up with the class. I hope that we can go back to school soon. ~ Max W, 6A

This still is a new change to me, but I’ve gotten the hang of this mysterious experience. Regarding that, all tasks have been wonderful and class meetings have been joyous and our teachers are trying their best to make this change unique and fun. I still yearn to go back to school and socialize with fellow students. ~ Calvin N, 6A

Sometimes remote learning feels a bit isolating, so I really enjoy having catch-ups with my friends and class. I am also happy that I get to spend more time with my family and pets. So overall, even though remote learning can sometimes be a bit frustrating, there are still a lot of positives. –Eve W, 6A

I have enjoyed all the class meetings and how we can still see each other, but I still would prefer to be back at school and socialise with everyone else. That isn’t possible right now so I just have to get the best possible experience out of this strange and difficult time. ~ Henry R, 6A

I enjoyed seeing all my friends in class meetings, all the tasks are interesting and fun. I can’t wait to be back at school again to see everyone in person. ~ Felix D, 6A

I have enjoyed being able to make my own timetable and the responsibilities the come with remote learning. All the tasks are really fun and ending and starting a week of with a class meeting is awesome. ~ Lauren B, 6A

I have been enjoying all the different and creative tasks we get to do each day and being able to organize my own day. I love catching up with 6A on the class meetings, which is really fun especially when we try new things to do on them. ~ Gemma O, 6A

I have really enjoyed the work and fun tasks we have been doing but sometimes it is hard to focus because of small distractions. I have enjoyed catching up with some of my friends on Zoom and my whole class on Google Meets. I also am happy because I can spend more time with my family and pets and I can go on my daily walks. I still would rather be at school and I can’t wait to get back. ~ Pia T, 6A

I have appreciated the class meeting because I think it is important we get to see people. I also enjoyed the movie maker and doing exercise with people from school and we can chat about how we are going. ~ Edie R, 6A

6B Reflections

I like seeing my friends, but the easy and accessible tasks make it easier. ~ Isaac I

For me, remote learning has been pretty easy, but sometimes it can get a little difficult when I can’t see my friends and teachers, or when I can’t have breaks with my school peers. ~ Romy L

Remote learning is hard because sometimes the internet is really bad or there is a problem. But overall I enjoy it. ~ Emily W

Remote learning has been pretty fun because it is good preparation for high school, but then on the other hand I miss being with my friends and everyone in the classroom. I like when I can do my work at my own pace. ~ Sienna W

Remote learning has been pretty fun because I can take breaks when I feel like it, which I think is very important for when you are sitting at a computer all day. The only downside is that it is harder to ask the teacher questions about the work. ~ Tashi O

6C Reflections

This is screenshot of our mid-week drop in meeting. We have different students joining at different times and the purpose is to ask any questions about the work, but mostly we chat.

Today’s conversation topics included:

  • Our dogs (always on the agenda). Although unseen here, we often have them joining our meets!
  • Food! We have some very accomplished bakers in Year 6! We also love talking about ingredients you could put into smoothies.
  • Scouts (particularly baking Anzac biscuits.)
  • Gymnastics. Amelia as a new air track to help with her training at home.
