Let’s Get Out of Here

Community Physical Challenge

‘Let's Get Out Of Here’.

This is probably something we have all thought at least once over the past few months. At the beginning of remote learning 2.0 I asked the FPS staff to record their exercise via a Google form, if they wanted to, so as a collective we might end up travelling the equivalent of going to Sydney. I have been blown away by the responses – to date we have a combined total of nearly 550km travelled, in just three weeks.

The Challenge

I would like to extend the challenge to the FPS community. It would be great to combine all the exercises of students, siblings, parents/guardians or any other active members of FPS community. As a collective how many kilometres can we log for the remainder of this term? Could we get to Auckland… to Darwin … maybe Fiji?

A Google form will be sent to all children in their PE lesson this week, to log their exercise. It would be great to start with every student entering at least one activity, no matter how small. 500 students entering a 500m walk is an impressive 250km! I have also included the link below for those parents or guardians who may not get a chance to see their child(s) lessons. If you know someone who is an active member of the FPS community who you think would also like to be involved please feel free to forward the link onto them.

This is a purely optional activity and all information collected will remain private. The form is a simple five question survey.

  • Name. Pseudonyms are welcome if you do not wish to enter your real name, or leave it blank as it is optional.
  • Connection to the school. Please choose the option(s) that best describes you.
  • Grade level. This is optional and can be left blank if you are not a student.
  • Distance travelled. Please enter this number as kilometres e.g. 500m would be entered at 0.5.
  • Exercise type. Pick the one that best describes how you exercised, combined exercise for example a walk/run can be entered in whichever way you like.

If you do a whole family exercise and do not wish to enter multiple forms you can total the distance and enter it as one form and tick multiple boxes.

Please remember to be safe and follow the current DHHS guidelines for exercise

Thank you for your support!
