Kildare College- New Staffroom Opening
On Wednesday, 2 September 2020, Kildare College officially blessed and opened their new refurbished staffroom- Brigid's Place. A place of hospitality and love. Principal Tina Neate has provided us with an insight into the fantastic occasion.
After consultation with the Stewardship Team, we decided to enhance the staffroom space and provide an area that our staff can retreat to for their wellbeing which in effect would enhance the teaching and learning for the students. We were also very conscious about seeking permission from the Sisters as we knew that we would be changing the convent, in particular the courtyard. We would sincerely like to thank the Sisters for giving their blessing to make these changes. The opening was about representing and embracing the past and looking towards the future with every person who has been part of Kildare contributing to our story.
We were also absolutely delighted to welcome some of the past principals - Moira Broderick (1966-1967), Kathy McEvoy (1992-1998), John Neate (1999 - 2002) and Margaret Rouggos (2008 - June 2019) We were very grateful also to all who attended in person or via Zoom.
We would like to thank the following people:
- Tibor Cseh from Aspex Building Designers who designed our new space
- Tony Zappia from Director from Studio Nine Architects
- Nic Mazzone from Mazzone Builders who built our new space
- Lil Mader who project managed the building
- Stewardship Council for supporting us with this project
- KEM who were so encouraging as we built this space during these unprecedented times
Finally a big thank you to all our staff for their patience and support during the construction. At least it forced us to social distance from one another!
Congratulations Kildare College, may you have many years of happiness in this new space. We can't wait to see it in real life!
