House Band

The annual House Band competition occurred last Thursday at lunchtime in the Hall. All three Houses were well prepared and performed like seasoned rock stars.

Carmel kicked off with a mashup centred around House of Gold and featuring an excited teacher rocking out on the double bass. Lourdes were a tight ensemble who played Land Down Under with some slick flute playing and smooth moves in a dance break. Loreto took out the competition with their rendition of Home, which featured some sweet harmonies and an acrobatic bass player who revved the crowd into a frenzy with her moves at the front of the stage. The audience were cheering all three Houses all the way. It was great to see such support for all Houses.

We were treated to three songs by our judges, local band Kudu Joy. Many thanks to Sabine, Lewis and Sascha for judging the competition, as well as the House Captains and Heads of House for their organisation and leadership. Congratulations to all of the students and staff involved for their hard work and preparedness to develop the performances over the four week practice period. You all rock.

Arts Festival

We will be holding an Arts Festival at school during Week 10 of this term, 21-25 September. Although we are unable to invite adult family and friends on site for performances and exhibitions due to COVID-19 safety measures, there will be live streams and videos posted on the College Facebook page throughout the week. There is every chance your daughter or young son will be involved in a performance, or have a piece of artwork displayed during the week as the aim of the event is for wide participation to share the developing skills and creativity developed during Arts lessons.

The festival finale will be the House Drama final performances after lunch on Friday 25 September.
