Principal Team Editorial

There is much speculation at the moment in relation to the Premier’s announcement on Sunday about the roadmap to the lifting of stage 4 restrictions. I don’t have any information about who and when a return to onsite learning will occur at this point, but I would be surprised if students return in the final week of this term, at the conclusion of the six week lockdown period. A return to onsite learning at the start of term 4 is more likely, however I think case numbers in coming weeks is likely to dictate if that return is staged across the year levels. I’m guessing, but I think that an announcement in relation to students returning to onsite learning is more probable in the second week of the holidays. I’m not expecting that the timeline for a return will be announced in the coming week.

I know parents and students are eager to return to “normal” as we are too, and I’m hoping that the pandemic cases drop significantly in coming days so that this can happen sooner rather than later. I will be conducting a Facebook Live Q & A session for parents later next week and hopefully I will have more information that I can share with you, other than my educated guesswork!

Next week we will be conducting our student conferences (Parent Teacher Interviews). These are being held on Wednesday 9th September. I would like to thank staff for their support to ensure that we can still provide valuable communication to parents about their child’s progress, particularly during remote learning. Obviously they will be held under different circumstances and in a different format to normal, but due to the commitment of our teachers these valuable meetings can still occur. I would like to thank them on your behalf for their ability to pivot to this new format.
