REC News

Dear Parents and Carers,

On Tuesday, students participated in our Feast of Saint Joseph Mass, celebrated on 19th March. During the week, our classes learnt about who Saint Joseph was and why we celebrate his feast day.

Our students learned that Joseph was the husband of Mary and the foster father of Jesus. He worked as a carpenter in the town of Nazareth, and he was not wealthy even though his ancestor was King David, the greatest king of Israel. However, Joseph was a man of great compassion and faith. He strived to do the will of God, no matter what God asked of him. As Father Joseph mentioned during his Homily at Mass on Tuesday, Saint Joseph is the patron saint of the universal Catholic Church, fathers, immigrants, workers, travellers, carpenters and many more.

This week, we are also celebrating the Feast of the Annunciation of the Lord. This is celebrated on 25th March, exactly nine months before Christmas, and celebrates the day the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and asked her to be the Mother of Jesus. We celebrated this important feast day today, Friday, 24th March, at Church with our school and parish community.
