Sydenham Campus Welcome to Term 1, 2023.

Welcome back to all our returning students and their families. A special welcome to Sydenham Campus to our new Year 7 students and their families! It has been a wonderful start to the school year, and it has been great to see lots of lovely smiling faces in our classes and around the school yard.

Our Campus Student Management Leadership Team consists of the following staff members and we encourage families to ask for them by name when you contact the General Office.

Some of the new staff members are also new to the teaching profession and it is a great privilege that they have chosen Copperfield College as the school where they begin their careers. Some are also ex Copperfield students – what a great endorsement in our College! We extend our thanks to the more experienced teaching staff who will act as mentors to our newly arrived colleagues.

We are excited to announce and introduce our Student Leaders for 2023. We are excited to see them grow and develop their leadership skills as well as support their peers with programs and activities at the campus.

Whilst the term is only a few weeks old we have had several events already, namely the Swimming Sports on March 3rd. Thank you to Kylie Brookshaw (College Sports Leader) and James Riccobene (Campus Sport Leader) for their organisation of this event. We are now looking forward to the Year 7 Iron Form Day on March 30th.

Our Year 10 students have attended the RMIT experience excursion in week 3 where they were able to participate in interactive activities and get an insight to life after Secondary school at a university. An important year for our Year 10s to begin to narrow their focus on what they would like

to explore in their time at our Delahey (senior) campus in year 11 and year 12.

We have tried to be cautious by not having large groups of students assemble, in line with DET Operations Guidelines, however we are hoping to have Year level assemblies to formally welcome students back to campus. We also want to invite students to take on our 2023 Campus goals;

Improving student attendance
Seating arrangements informed by student data and designed to promote learning
Fostering pride in our environment
Amplifying student voice and agency

We were very proud of our Year of Champions in in 2022 and we look forward to a 2023 and being Champions Together.
