Mr Butts' Announcements

Fire Carriers Commissioning

On Monday our new Fire Carriers were commissioned to carry out their very important role at St Mary's. Congratulations to Izel Davis, Zach Hardisty, Budd Haig, Louise Garcia, Savannah Hooker, Jess Newson, Noah Woods and Jayden Atkinson.  FIRE stands for Friends Igniting Reconciliation Education and I look forward to those chosen playing a significant leadership role at St Mary's this year.  We began outside for a flag raising and smoking ceremony, before we went inside for the commissioning. Along with the students, Nerissa, Mrs Dowling and Meagan were also commissioned as adult FIRE Carriers. Thank you to Neil, Nathan and Chris (ASHE) for conducting the smoking ceremony, Mrs Dyke and Marissa for organising the commissioning and to our choir for the beautiful singing.

Our Gr 5/6 students are having a wonderful time in Canberra this week.  This week they will be visiting a variety of places including the War Memorial, Australian Mint, Questacon science and technology centre and Parliament House. See our facebook feed for more photos!

Sam Birrell visits

Last week we welcomed our local Member of Parliament, Sam Birrell, to speak with our Grade 5/6’s ahead of their Canberra camp. He answered lots of questions about his role in the House of Representatives, and said that he will try to catch up with the children in Canberra.

Family Mass

Thank you to the families who attended the Family mass on Sunday.  Thanks to our choir members and those who took part in the liturgy.

Money Line

The Grade Six Social Justice Leadership Team co-ordinated our CARITAS Money Line last week and did a terrific job in their role as social justice leaders!

Week 4 Archer Earl

Archer is an outstanding young man in many ways. He plays a big role in making the classroom a better place and he brings a sense of fun to those around him.  Archer often initiates conversations with students and teachers and shows interest in others. Well done Archer!

Week 5 Roman Monshing

Roman is a shining light in the classroom - genuinely responsible and respectful towards everyone without ever needing reward for it. He has grown significantly in maturity in recent years and has become an influential student leader.  Congratulations Roman, you should be very proud of yourself!
