Youth Mass
The Year 11 Eucharistic Ministers, along with peers from other year groups, joined the Our Lady of Dolours community on Sunday evening to gather in worship for the monthly Youth Mass of the parish. We were also joined by members of the Mercy College community. Students of St Pius assisted with the readings, offertory and acted as Eucharistic Ministers. Fr Joey presided over the celebration and was delighted to see the involvement of the two schools.
We look forward to participating in the parish Youth Mass during the school term.
Chapel Mass
Thanks to Mr Wheatley’s Year 9 Religious Education class for hosting our fortnightly Chapel Mass. It has been great to see students from Mercy College once again joining us for our celebration. Fr Joey spoke of the importance or repenting and receiving the sacrament of reconciliation, particularly during this season of Lent.
Please note that due to the Mercy College Easter liturgy, there will be no Chapel Mass next week at Mercy. We will recommence our Chapel Mass program next term.
Eddie Rice Hours
During the holidays there will be Year 10 and 11 students completing work in our community, in particular assisting those on the margins, as part of our Eddie Rice Hours program. If members of our community have any opportunity or initiative where they are working with those experiencing disadvantage and would like the assistance of students, please contact me here at the College.
Project Compassion
As a community we are looking to make a generous donation to CARITAS at the end of the term. Through our almsgiving we are hoping to ensure that people can be liberated from a life of disadvantage to a more dignified existence. All members of our community are encouraged to donate through homeroom Lenten Collections. Donations can be made online through
Easter Liturgies
Next week we will be holding our Easter liturgies, marking the significance of the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ. There will be students involved in the dramatic performance, the music and also the choir. It is hoped that, as a College, we will mark this significant event of the liturgical calendar with solemnity and reverence.
