Year 10

Jane Scobie

This first term of SELF has been amazing. We have had so much fun and learnt so much about mindsets, study tips, work experience and more. The difference between a growth mindset and a set mindset is insightful because one is a huge learning barrier and the other lets you grow and improve in all ways. In class everyone has completed a little quiz which tells them what they should focus on in terms of learning and studying at home. For example whether they need to focus on practicing for exams or making sure they complete all homework tasks. Work experience has also been a new and exciting learning curve for everyone because we’ve had to make real impacting decisions about what we might want to do in the future and organize a place to work at for a week by ourselves. I have chosen to work at my local library because I am passionate about English. In one SELF class we all joined together and got to choose an activity to do. The choices were going on a walk, playing board games, sport in the gym, drawing and Nintendo games. I played a board game with my friends which was a nice break from normal lessons.
