YEAR 7 TENNIS

On Friday 10th March, six students went out and represented the College at Year 7 Tennis. The two teams did a fantastic job. The girls team only lost their game due to a count-back in points, so very competitive and a great effort by Tiarni K-D, Maddie S and Annika M.     The boys team won two matches and lost one only to a count-back.  Kieran O, Riley C and Mitchell L represented the College with amazing sportsmanship that was talked about from onlookers.

Well done Year 7 Tennis.

YEAR 7 CRICKET

On Wednesday 1st March our Year 7 Cricket team went to their first inter-school competition at Silcock Reserve.    We played fantastic in the first match, doubling the other school's score, with Sam K hitting multiple 4’s, some of which turned into 8 runs with the Super 8s scoring.     In our second game we also did well with the ball but struggled with the bat. Kieran O and Lawson A were both on hat-trick balls that unfortunately didn’t result in hat-tricks, but great bowling nonetheless.    Our third game was super close; despite Cooper D and Ayden W doing really well in the field we came up just a few runs short.

Amazing effort from all involved. Our sportsmanship and support for each other was second to none.

INTER-SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL

Over the past two weeks the College has sent out 18 Volleyball teams, over all year levels, to compete in the Yarra District Interschool Volleyball competition at Dandenong Sport Stadium.  All students represented the College, proudly displaying the College Values, but were all beaten on the day by Monbulk College (who run a specialised Volleyball program). Well done to our 120 students who competed in these events!

EASTERN METROPOLITAN REGION SWIMMING CARNIVAL

On Friday 3rd March, seven of our students went and represented the College at Yarra Group Swimming. They were extremely successful and demonstrated amazing support for each other throughout the day.     A special congratulations to Amelie and Ivan for taking out the age group champions - a massive feat competing against seven other schools.

CYCLING - ALASDAIR N 10C

On Tuesday 7th February I rode in Round 2 of the VICS interschool road racing. It was a criterium race around Sandown Motor Circuit held by Carnegie Caufield Cycling Club. I came 5th in Junior Men A Grade. It was a hectic race as there were attacks every half lap (I made a 50km/h attack from the start) with all the different junior grades on the course at the same time.

On Saturday 25th February I rode Round 3 of the VICS series. It was a criterium race around “The Teardrop” in Kew held by Hawthorn Cycling Club. I came 3rd in Junior Men A Grade in a bunch sprint narrowly beating the rider in 4th. I’m in the black kit with white shoes.

On Tuesday  6th March I raced Round 5 of the VICS series at Sandown Racecourse held by Carnegie Caufield Cycling Club (CCCC) as Round 4 was cancelled. This was a Team Time Trial race (TTT). As I was the only rider from LHC I was put with other riders from different schools, meaning I was riding in a team of very young riders. Because of this I was at the front of our group instead of taking turns on the front as I was huge compared to them, making me an excellent slipstream and also I was very strong compared to them. We came 5th in Junior Men. We couldn’t go as fast as I wanted to as I was quite a bit stronger than the others. I was also given some free kit (cycling clothing) that had been donated to CCCC which I was very thankful for.

Long Course Victorian State Swimming Titles

Some great achievements by Amelie T-M over five days at the State titles. She competed in the 13 year age group with some fierce competition from all over the state. She competed in 10 events overall and achieved her personal best in all but one. She is currently the Victorian Silver medalist for 100m Breaststroke, Bronze medalist for 200m Breaststroke and Gold medalist as part of the 4 x50m Medley Relay team.  Amelie is now training to get ready for Nationals on 9th-15th April, where she has three events (50, 100 and 200m breaststroke).
