Preparations are well underway for this year's production of 'Aladdin Trouble'. It has been a joy seeing so many students opt into participating in this main Performing Arts event of the year, and hearing the sound of songs being sung and lines being rehearsed even as they walk between classes.

Student Achievement

Isla Sleigh 5H

The Grey Wolf Award is the highest award in Cubs and it takes a lot of motivation, perseverance and commitment, especially over the last 3 years.

Isla joined cubs in Feb 2020 and was invested in March. After 1 more week Covid hit!

Just a week or so of online cubs….craft, Lego challenges, cooking, cracking codes and signals, showing off collections and a lot of random pets wanting to join in on zoom. All of this counted towards different badges like first aid, art and literature, codes and signals and cooking.

In late 2021 Isla was finally able to go on a camp; a 4 night Cuboree.  She also did a 21km bike hike, completed a leadership course, worked on many more badges and was chosen as a Patrol Leader. This saw her leading a patrol of 6 and mentoring the younger Cubs.

The final step to achieving the Grey Wolf award is to plan, do and review an adventurous journey – Isla’s was a 14km hike in Warrandyte.

Only a handful of Cubs at 7th Ringwood have achieved their Grey Wolf.  Isla’s name is engraved on the plaque with them and she can wear her Grey Wolf badge through the rest of her scouting journey to show what she have achieved.

The Victorian State Athletics Championships was held on the weekend of March 11 at Lakeside and Isaac competed/qualified in 4 events.

Isaac claimed a gold medal in High Jump with a PB of 1.40mtrs in U11 Boys which was a fantastic achievement for him!

He also placed 7th in discus (with a PB), 10th in Long Jump and 14th in the 100m sprint (with a PB).

Isaac's worked really hard for the High Jump this season so a nice reward for him!

Mr O’Brien

Mr (Jack) O’Brien has recently joined the RNPS team. After teaching at 3 other schools, Mr O’Brien is now the teacher of 6O. Mr O’Brien’s favourite food is bananas and he enjoys travelling to the Rocky Mountain Region in Alberta, Canada. He is looking forward to the two Grade 6 camps, and the 2023 Billy Cart Grand Prix. Mr O’Brien loves teaching because he gets to build positive relationships with his students and he can help then become the best people they can be. We are looking forward to a great year with Mr O’Brien.

Miss Chynoweth

Miss (May) Chynoweth, has newly joined the RNPS community, after recently graduating from University. She’s now the beloved teacher of 6C. Miss Chynoweth’s favourite food is Chicken Parma, and her favourite holiday destination is Noosa, located in Queensland. We asked Miss Chynoweth why she chose to be a teacher and she told us this.

“I love teaching because I get to help students grow in their learning and in other aspects of their life. I also love having the opportunity to create valuable relationships with students and the school community.”

This year Miss Chynoweth is really looking forward to the school production Aladdin. All the grade six’s are already getting so excited, and Miss C cannot wait to see them thrive in their roles in production.

We are looking forward for you being here for many coming years, and we are delighted to have you and welcome you to the school, we wish all the best for you and are excited to see how many lives you will impact with you kind and courageous presence.
