Digi Tech Sessions
Term 1
This term, Year 1/2 students have been learning to identify and describe different types of digital systems. Year 1 students have been practising their touch typing skills using a program called Typing Club. Year 2 students have been learning to use an iPad to understand what a 'good photo' is and how to take one. They then explored an app called PicCollage. Students learnt how to insert their photos and add text about themselves to create a digital All About Me poster.
This week, the groups will swap over and Year 2 students will revisit touch typing and Year 1 students will explore PicCollage!
The focus for this term has been on animations. Students have been learning about different features and functions of animations. They investigated the steps animators take when planning, designing and creating animations. Throughout the term students created a range of animations including:
In Term 2 students will use the knowledge and skills they have learnt to create a stop motion animation!!

This term students began their Digi Tech project in which they are planning, designing and building a sustainable school using Minecraft Education Edition. Students explored sustainable worlds in Minecraft as well as researched and investigated information about different building materials and sustainable practices. Their goal was to determine what materials would be considered sustainable and what materials would not be considered sustainable when building. Students researched sustainable areas including:
Students began designing and planning their sustainable school in teams with each member of the team having a specific role.
In Term 2 students will be building their sustainable school in Minecraft!
