Junior School Learning

Prep/1 Students

Our Prep/1 students have had a very busy week! It has been wonderful to see our students eagerly accessing their learning each day and sharing completed tasks with their teachers. Have a look at some examples below!

Reading & Viewing

On Thursday, students went searching for uppercase letters and full stops. They searched high and low in their ‘just right’ texts and recorded their findings.

Writing

On Monday, students wrote a recount and it was great to see students thinking about their letter sizing and formation.

Numeracy

On Tuesday, students practised skip counting by 10s. This was a theme repeated throughout the week and it was impressive to see student confidence grow as the week went on.

Health and Physical Education with Mrs Kelley

I hope you are all keeping happy and healthy during your remote learning. It has been fantastic to see so many students getting out and about, enjoying the fresh air (even if it is quite cold) and being active when you can.

This week in Health and PE, the Junior School headed outside on a Nature Hunt. They were given a checklist of things they needed to find whilst out and about. The purpose of the activity was to get students out in the fresh air, appreciating the little things they have around them. Students had to then draw a picture or take a photo of their favourite thing they saw. Being outside has fantastic benefits for mental health, promoting the release of endorphins, a hormone that makes our brain happy. Doing things that make us happy is extremely important in these uncertain times. I hope you enjoyed your nature hunt. Here are a few pictures from students out and about on their Nature Hunt.

Have fun and keep happy and healthy!

Science

I like to move it move it! Juniors have been looking at their own movement and the movement of other things in and around the house. Well done to everyone who completed the tasks. Here are some examples shared on padlet from Basil and Ayla.
