Team Leaders Message
With the holidays upon us, our learners and teachers are looking forward to a chance to slow the pace and rejuvenate, ready for a very productive Term 4. What a fantastic term of learning we have had in Secondary 9/10. Our students showed that they engaged in their learning and worked closely towards reaching their learning goals.
I would like to offer our collective thanks once again for the support you have given to your children, the staff and the school over recent months. As you know, our staff work very hard to ensure that all our students are cared for. They go over and above what is expected of them and provide an excellent environment for our learners to learn and grow online and on-site.
Crisis moments create opportunities, and our crisis problems spark great creativity as it forces us to think outside the norm. Once again, in Term 3, we moved online and continued to be creative with our learning. Students transitioned online with ease and enthusiasm and continued to be engaged and participate in their learning. It was amazing to see such support and contribution from our students and families during our daily WebEx sessions. They should be commended for their continued commitment to their learning.
During the term, students embraced the challenge of remote learning and worked to create engaging procedural texts focused on their interests and personal skills. We investigated language choices, sentence structures, publishing options whilst focusing on hooking our audiences and stepping them through a familiar task.
Our Maths focus for the term was identifying and improving our maths skills in ‘real world’ scenarios and equations. Students developed their multiplication, division, measuring using informal and formal units of measurement whilst investigating floor plans using area and perimeter to help solve a range of problem-solving activities.
Our PreCal classes were lucky enough to start the term with an exciting experience day at Latitude Trampoline Park. Students were challenging themselves to bounce and climb out of their comfort zones to learn about personal growth and resilience. Students continued their experience days online throughout the term, cooking pizzas, ‘yum yum’ balls, constructing trash puppets and creating ice cream in a bag.
Despite the challenges of experience days online, our students flourished at the opportunity, learnt lots about themselves, and met each day with a positive attitude and growth mindset.
