Pastoral Plants and Environment Day

Ms Kathryn Badini

From Eamonn Frawley:

Throughout 2021, Year 10 students Archie Bathe, Archie Ryan and Eamonn Frawley have been participating in the Lord Mayor’s Young Environmental Leadership Network (LMYELN). This is a Brisbane City Council Program, where Year 10 leaders from schools throughout Brisbane come together to learn how to run their very own environment project. The Year 10 students chose ‘Pastoral Plant Project’, which was a great success last week.

On Thursday 19 August, volunteers from the Environment Group, the LMYELN participants and several teachers dedicated their afternoon towards potting the Pastoral Plants in order to hand them out on Friday morning. With only minimal soil spillage and several sore hands and backs later, a total of 76+ plants had been potted and transported to 108 Classroom, in order to be handed out on the Environment Group’s Free Dress Day on Friday. Friday ran smoothly and classrooms were a lot greener, with pastoral groups coming up with entertaining names for their new leafy classmate. The Year 10 LMYELN participants would like to thoroughly thank Ms Kenny, Ms Badini, Miss Stewart, Ms Dekkers, Mr Fry, and anyone else who volunteered their time to pot the plants on Thursday afternoon and give out the plants on Friday. Remember please look after your plant and don’t forget to fulfil your Pastoral Group’s Environmental Pledge!
