Year 8 has got some serious talent!

The Year 8s took some time out of typical distance learning to participate in 'Year 8's Got Talent'. Students had the choice of entering many different competitions to show off their skills.

The competitions included events such as:

  • Decorating a Cake as an Animal
  • Photography
  • The Best Trickshot
  • Lego Building
  • Iso Art
  • Famous Movie Lines Reenacted
  • Creative Pasta Recipes
  • Building a Tower from Random Objects Found in your Home

Students went all out and we were amazed with the range and skill of entries. Official winners of each competition will be announced on Monday, with some events having over 40 entries. Here are some highlights from the day!

Providing lockdown with a positive aspect

This week the Year 9 students were asked to take a family portrait photograph to remember lockdown 7.0. Students were asked to plan the shot, deciding where within the home it would be taken and whether or not it would include family pets. The photographs were then taken using a self-timer.  These photos will hopefully be a great commemorative keepsake for families in the future.

Paintings the cherry on top of colour mixing task

Prior to lockdown, the Year 8 students completed an ice cream sundae painting task.  This task involved learning about blending techniques of acrylic paint and how to create tones, tints and shades. After experimenting with colour mixing, students then painted their own depiction of an ice cream sundae. Students applied this learnt knowledge and were assessed on their ability to correctly depict light and dark areas within their painting.

Will work for nachos

The Year 7 students have been working on creating nacho bowls for someone. They were asked to plan the meal before cooking it. They came up with some really impressive presentations!
