Year 10 Geography M with Ms Vis
These students are currently exploring the physical processes that happen in our environment. This includes the hydrological (water) cycle, the oxygen cycle and the carbon cycle. To help learn these concepts using methods to help them remember, as well as express their creative sides, students are working in groups in making songs out of the main ideas. Students have taken on a range of influences to help them do this, whether it is using nursery rhymes, pop songs or rap rhythms. They are also creating visuals such as posters and diagrams to help get their information across when they perform their finished product. We are very much looking forward to seeing their finished products and perhaps discovering some hidden talents in the process!

The year is flying by, especially for our current Year 12 students. The students have been busy, not only with their classes, but also making significant decisions about their post school options, including University early entry applications, with two students already receiving early entry offers.
Week 5 will see our Year 12 students undertake their Trial HSC exams. This is an important time for them, to not only demonstrate their knowledge, but to also become accustomed to the process that is required for the actual HSC exams. I have encouraged the students to ensure they are checking their Schools online account regularly to ensure they have the most up to date information available to them, such as their HSC exam time table.
Our Year 10 students have had a very busy year and more so in the last week. They have had the opportunity to engage in the process of their subject selections for Year 11. Our students showed a great deal of maturity, making well thought out decisions that show they have a very good understanding of what the future holds for them. These students have some mandatory tasks that are required by NESA to start their HSC years, including their minimum standards testing, which they have already started and “HSC all my own work."
Many of our usual programs that the students may have participated in such as University Open Days and Information Sessions, have been disrupted by COVID restrictions. Although this may be disappointing to the students, it has seen the rapid development from all institutions on virtual open days and information sessions which has allowed our students to gain further information from institutions that they may not have otherwise been able to due to, their distance from us.
