Marni Naa Pudni

As we come to an end of another highly successful term, I would like to acknowledge the hard work of our staff and their continued commitment to ensuring our students get the highest quality education. The Festival of the Arts was just one example of our quality teaching and learning programs.

This year we have also ensured all of our teachers receive quality learning themselves. With a focus in strategies and practices that have the highest impact, we ensure that our teachers gain the most out of learning, so that they can create real change.

Teachers and leadership at LNPS have engaged in professional learning that is based on the experiences of the world’s best education systems. Orbis is a professional learning initiative that uses contemporary research and best practice, offering flexible, differentiated programs that work with the profession, for the profession.

For real change to occur LNPS staff are committed to continuously working together in developing shared understandings about best practices, supporting each other, solving challenges of practice together. The programs and learning LNPS teachers and leaders have engaged with through Orbis have further consolidated and strengthened our collaborative approaches and our site improvement practices.

Here is a video from Orbis, where our teachers Natalie Brook and Trent Clayton share their learning experiences.

Festival of The Arts

Last week, we held our first ever virtual community event. The virtual Festival of The Arts was a huge success, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all students and staff.  We hope families had the opportunity to tune into the stream and enjoy the performances and exhibits.

A recording will be available to families this week once we have been able to process the file.

I would also like to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of our staff to put this event together.

NAPLAN Reports (Years 3, 5 and 7)

Today, families of our Year 3, 5 and 7 students will receive their child's 2021 National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) Report.

Lockleys North Primary School transitioned to NAPLAN Online in 2019 (except for Year 3 Writing). The NAPLAN Online is an adaptive testing model, meaning it is tailored and adapts to student responses, presenting them with questions that may be more or less difficult – resulting in better assessment and more precise results.

In previous reports families would have been able to view the question responses on the Individual Student Summary Report (blue report). This is no longer available.

An additional report (Standards for Education Achievement Student Report 2021) has been provided by the South Australian Department for Education. This report reflects your child’s results against the Department’s standards of achievement for Reading and Numeracy only.

As is always the case, NAPLAN gives only an indication of a student’s performance on the day of testing and the results should be interpreted with care. Please be aware that generally most children will have progressed with their academic achievements over the five months since the time of testing and current results likely differ from those indicated in this report, particularly as more of the curriculum has been addressed at this point of the year.

Teachers at our school regularly assess students’ learning using a range of assessment tasks that cater for a variety of learning styles. The NAPLAN results add to the wealth of knowledge that we already have about individual children.

You are invited to contact your child’s teacher or the leadership team if you have any questions or require assistance to interpret the report.

Please contact the school on 8443 5544 to make a suitable appointment time.
