Denmark a winning team at Narrogin Equine Inter-College Event

A Winning Team

WACOA-Denmark equine students Kasey James, Nell Bouffler, Chontelle Bock, Shahna Davis, Willow Donohue, Ella Cameron, Dakota Dalton, Matilda Steinhoff, Misha Utber and Alyssa Marson recently competed at the Narrogin Equine Intercollege event.

The event is open to students attending one of the West Australian Agricultural Colleges with this year Narrogin, Harvey and Denmark competing. The event tests the students’ skills in show jumping, dressage, games and in-hand presentation. Students competed as individuals and in teams of two and four with points counting towards overall College score. With the highest averaged College score winning the overall trophy.

In the lead up to the event the students were busy washing and plaiting their horses, memorising their dressage tests and having a bit of fun with group demos on the finer points of handling techniques. All that work paid off on the day with comments from the dressage judge on how well presented and polite they were.

It was great to see the students giving each other encouragement and helping each other out, showing good team spirit and sportsmanship. It was also a pleasure to see students handle their horses sympathetically with positive encouragement, helping build their horse’s confidence and partnership which is so important when riding horses.

The support from parents and Jenny Scahill was also greatly appreciated and certainly helped with the smooth running of the day.

The Narrogin Equine Intercollege event is always a highlight for the equine students. All the students had a good time and the day culminated with numerous individual and team placings and Denmark winning the overall college trophy. Results from the day included:
