How are we celebrating BOOK WEEK at Galilee during Remote Learning?

We have organised a Book Week Incursion for all the students at Galilee. BIGGER, BETTER, BRIGHTER! explores the CBCA Book Week 2021 theme:  OLD WORLDS, NEW WORLDS, OTHER WORLDS, in an interactive and educational musical adventure!

Join Marley and characters from a selection of The CBCA 2021 Shortlisted Books, as she seeks to discover what it is that is missing and how best to recover it through a fun filled and energetic celebration of CBCA Book Week 2021 that brings together all the elements of great storytelling - a hero, a mystery, a quest, and an exploration!

Book Week starts on Saturday 21st August and ends on Friday 27th August.

• For your diary: Virtual Book Parade - Friday 27 August
  During Book Week (Week 7, Term 3), teachers  will use their ZOOM sessions to organise a Book Week Costume / Fun Hat Virtual Parade for Friday 27 August for K-2 and 3-6.
• Book Trivia
• Children may like to dress up at home as their favourite book characters or perhaps just wear a hat.
• Teachers will also give students an opportunity to design a Book Week Poster and other activities showing the theme “Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds”.

PRC Rule Adjustment Update

It is getting close to the end of the Premier’s Reading Challenge for 2021 and students in greater Sydney including our Galilee students, who are learning from home, may have some additional challenges when completing their student reading records.

To support all students, the following adjustments have been applied to the challenge in 2021. A full list of the changes can be found on the PRC rules page.

• The Challenge closing date has been extended to allow extra time for students to finalise their book entries. The new closing date for students is Friday 3 September, 2021.
• Students on all Challenge levels will be able to read 10 choice books.
• Students on all Challenge levels will be able to include books on their reading records that they read collaboratively as a class, in person or online with their teacher or at home with their parents/carers.

Thank you to all our parents/carers who are supporting our avid Galilee readers in their participation in the Challenge. Students’ efforts will be recognised through the receipt of a Certificate of Achievement signed by the NSW Premier, Ms Gladys Berejiklian. Gold Certificates will be awarded to students who complete four years of the Challenge.
