From the Principal

Benvenuto - Welcome
We continue to bounce like ping pong balls between lockdowns and restrictions, but as ever, I am in awe of the resilience and perseverance of our community. Merci, Gracias, Grazie, Arigato, Thank you. Across many cultures and languages there is a word for this concept of expressing gratitude – this has always been part of human interaction, human connection. We express our gratitude and say thank you.
To you our parents, guardians and carers of our students - for your ability to adapt to the rapidly changing situation, keeping up with communications and organisational requirements, whilst also trying to juggle work commitments, family pressures and life in general during a pandemic, we say thank you. To you our students - for your persistence, patience and grit in such difficult circumstances as you try to make sense of this world from your perspective as a young adult or a young child, we say thank you. To our entire staff group - for your flexibility, resilience and professionalism during an unprecedented time, a time when we are asked to stretch far beyond what we ever thought we were capable of stretching, we say thank you.
As a Catholic community in the hardest of times, we turn to our faith to strengthen and support us through the challenges and trials we face. I share with you a prayer from Xavier University, a Jesuit organisation:
Loving Creator,
We asked for strength, and you gave us difficulties to make us strong.
We asked for wisdom, and you gave us problems to solve.
We asked for prosperity, and you gave us purpose and brains to use.
We asked for courage, and you gave us fears to overcome.
We asked for patience, and you gave us situations where we were forced to wait.
We asked for love, and you gave us troubled people to help.
We asked for justice, and you called us to be just and lead with integrity.
Lord, we have received nothing that we asked for or wanted.
And yet, we receive everything that we needed.
For this we give thanks.
Amen
Please stay safe and keep your families, friends and those doing it tough close to your hearts and minds and in your prayers.
