TIWI COLLEGE AND ST JOSEPH'S COLLEGE PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM 2018
The opportunity to take part in the Tiwi Partnership Program could be the most profound and life changing activity your child could be involved in for 2018. The College Core Values of Community, Hospitality, Service, Compassion, Spirituality, Justice and Excellence are reflected in the mission and purpose of this exchange.
The Schools Partnership Program aims to develop an ongoing relationship and friendship between the two Colleges to provide students with the opportunity to experience traditional Indigenous and Non-Indigenous cultures.
Key elements of the partnership will include St Joseph’s College students and staff spending up to seven days on Tiwi Country learning local stories and culture from Tiwi Elders and students and seven days in Darwin. Our students will provide assistance to the Tiwi College students in everyday classroom activities such as; literacy and numeracy activities, physical education, science and the arts. Our students will also participate in cultural activities such as; mud mussel hunting, fishing, indigenous dance, traditional Tiwi art lessons and visiting local Tiwi Galleries.
Students in Years 9 to 11 in 2018 are invited to apply to participate in the Tiwi College Partnership Program which will involve two weeks at the end of August and the start of September 2018.
Cost of the program is approximately $2,500.00 - $3,000.00. However, this is dependent on flight and accommodation costs and the ability of the students to raise funds for the trip. The cost includes flights, accommodation, activities and all meals.
If you would like further information about the Itinerary and program details please contact Miss Paula Cox for the information sheet and application form. Expression of interests are due by the end of February.
CHRISTMAS GIVING
We have had no difficulty providing for the 130 families who requested assistance. We have also been able to share the toys with our Conferences in Merbein and Red Cliffs.
We have had an increase in the number of people coming for assistance this year so the contributions provided by your families, staff and students are very much appreciated.
