Eco-Warriors Take Action

Waste-free Wednesday 20th November

Eco-Warriors is a lunchtime club that meets every Thursday to make change for our environment.

At NMPS we are committed to working together to reduce our environmental impact, including the amount of waste we generate. The data from our term 3 waste audit showed that food packaging was a source of waste we could reduce. We have therefore decided that on Wednesday 20th November we will trial a ‘Waste-free Wednesday’ as part of our sustainability program.

On Waste-free Wednesday, we encourage students to bring lunch boxes that are free from disposable packaging such as plastic bags, wrappers or cling film. Our Eco Warriors have come up with alternative lunch box ideas, including reusable containers or packaging with whole or cut up fruits and vegetables, cheese and biscuits, dips, yoghurt, pasta, rice, eggs, sandwiches and rolls, and water in reusable drink bottles.

By cutting out disposable packaging for just one day in the week, we can reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and help the environment.

Thank you for your support and we will report back on the success of the day.
