Water polo success for our under 12 boys

It may be a little known fact, but NMPS has a water polo team.

Many of the children at the school play water polo on the weekend, and once a year NMPS fields a team in the annual Victorian Water polo Primary School Competition at MSAC, which was held on Wednesday, 13 November this year.

Representing the school was Marco, Aidan, Henry, Ariel, Cooper, Raphael, Ned and Luke (all from years 4, 5 and 6), along with eight of their friends from the Essendon Water polo club (from local primary schools in Essendon and Kensington). The boys were coached in the day by Darren Steere, a coach in the Essendon Water polo club and supported by a very small and excited group of NMPS mums and dads.

While there may have only been six teams with the draw, the competition was fierce with the boys competing against schools such as Trinity, Scotch, Canterbury and Geelong. Our boys however didn't disappoint, winning their first two games with skill and true sportsmanship. Their third game, the game which would determine if they would make it to the gold and silver medal playoff, was a real nail biter, with boys winning by one point 6-5 against Geelong to make it to the grand final.

Geelong managed to win their way back into the grand final game against NMPS and at the end of they day ended up being a stronger team. But that didn't deter our boys and their supporters, as they walked away, heads held high with silver medals and huge smiles ready to go again next year. Well done boys for a truly fabulous effort.

Jahleel has a extremely rare brain disease and chance to go overseas next year to get a Life Saving/Changing Brain operation. Jahleel is 3 years old and he's the younger brother of Khaleed Lekey who is in Year 5 at NMPS.

We are holding a movie night to help fundraise some of the money to help us get there. 

The movie is the last ever Star Wars!!
