Assistant Principal's Report

From the Assistant Principal
COLA Update
As you may have seen in the yard, recently the engineers explored the area where the poles are to be located, looking for underground services.
Unfortunately there is a stormwater pipe under one location, requiring a little extra work, but luckily this won’t delay our project.
Currently the plan is to have the footings installed in the second week of these school holidays, the steel delivered to the top school oval the week before Cup Day and the structure erected over the Cup Long Weekend and into that week. Hopefully, the project should be fully completed for our Remembrance Day ceremony on the 11th November.
Fingers crossed.
Working Bee
This is early notice that the next working bee for this year will be held at the end of week 2, Term 4, which is Saturday 19th October. This working bee will be especially important, not only because lots of spring weeds need to be cleaned up, but because our school review is later that term, and we would like to ensure our school is looking its best.
Please lock in this date now!
Limit Screen Time
Have you considered how you will limit screen time these holidays?
The Australian Institute of Family Studies recommends children spend no more than 2 hours per day on screens per day which includes watching television, on computers and playing electronic games.
There are many websites with helpful tips for limiting children’s screen time, including The Mayo Clinic and Healthy WA. There also a number of helpful apps, including Screen Time .
Better still, what about a screen free holiday? There are lots for great resources to help you plan, including here, here and here. Whatever you decide to do, have a great holiday.
