Year 7 ACE

In the last week of Term 2, 7ACE went to Melbourne Zoo. The excursion was to complement the classification unit they were studying in Science. The weather was cold but perfect to see all of the animals out and about. Students took part in a Great Race during the day and enjoyed exploring the amazing animals and exhibits of the Zoo.

This Semester 7ACE will begin their Community activities.  They will start with 3 visits to Courtenay Gardens Primary school next week, working with the grade 4 students on their history projects. They have also started their Personal Best Projects which they will work on for the next 4 months. We look forward to seeing all of their hard work during a celebration next term.  Good luck.

STEM

Last week the Year 10 STEAM classes, were given the opportunity to visit Casey Tech School. Casey Tech School is a shared learning facility, that delivers high-tech, leading edge courses to students from 21 secondary schools in the Casey region.

Casey Tech School aims to deliver innovative and real-world education programs in partnership with local industries, helping to prepare students for the jobs of the future. Their programs emphasise the vital Enterprise and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) skills needed for the 21st century. The students attended different workshops run by Casey Tech, giving them the opportunity to work with some state of the art technology.

On Monday, a group of students from Melbourne University came to work with our Year 10 STEAM students and 9ACE group. Students attended a presentation in the drama room, demonstrating many high impact scientific and real life phenomena. They also took part in a series of science rotations in the Science labs, giving students a chance to take part in some hands on innovation.

Year 11 VCAL

Last term, the students focused all of their learning around a Health unit. They covered all aspects of health, including mental, physical and sexual health. Students attended 4 sessions at the local Gym throughout the term. For some students, it was the first time that they had set foot in a Gym and for others, it was just a part of their daily routine. Students really enjoyed their term and being given the time to reflect on their own health status, and be provided with many strategies to promote good wellbeing.

Year 12 VCAL

Last term, students focused on Multiculturalism. All tasks and work centred around this theme. To finish off and celebrate the term, students worked hard, putting together a Multicultural day to share with the school community. Students cooked some multicultural dishes, played some games, painted some body art and were responsible for putting student handprints over a wall, representing the diverse community of students that we have at Lyndhurst Secondary College.
